Aunt Mary Nation ? Backgrounder
Do you have that, most likely older, relative who always gives you an incomprehensible or useless or inappropriate gift on Holidays or your Birthday? If so then welcome to Aunt Mary Nation, a site for sympathetic sharing of those special kinds of gifts. If you don't have your own Aunt Mary type of relative then enjoy the schaudenfroid.

A cute Dachshund soft toy project. Minxen would like this.
Finkbuilt ? Blog Archive ? DIY Fuel Injection Conversion
The crazy tinkerer over at Finkbuilt has been posting his experiences with putting a Megasquirt Electronic Fuel Injection system into his vintage 1973 BMW 2002. He does a great job of covering all the necessary topics and as usual he is entertaining to read. My buddy Jamman should do something like this with his little MG!
A great site that has all kinds of modern and classic furniture and decor.
The website of the West Hollywood store. Neat items. They are very proud of their vintage items though.
Typhoon - The first choice for stylish, innovative and unique homeware products
Cool. The UK kitchen gadget hawkers Typhoon opened a US internet shop. Lots of cool gadgets here.
If you have young kids (like under 5) you have to check out The Daddle. Yep. It's a saddle for Dads (or Moms) to play Horsey with their kids. You strap it on and the kids ride you.
Gives a new meaning to strap-ons and "Pony play".
Rotaliana has come up with an interesting solution. A LED lamp that also hides all the cords for your devices while letting the device sit up top. I have so many rechargers I'd need 3 of these.
Retro Thing: Finley's Holiday Home Movies
Retro Thing has a great entry on Finley's reels, prefessionally produced tourist reels for your home movie projector. Like they say a neat way to break up those reels of grandma feeding the baby.
A cool camera that has eight lenses but still uses regular 35 mm film. Useful for "Instant Art"!
A new website that promises to be a way to trade and barter thrift items online. Something to really follow up with and see how it does.
Drawn! The Illustration Blog ? Blog Archive ? Naiad and Walter Einsel
A great entry about Yet Another Blog (Today's Inspiration) and the series of posts about Naiad and Walter Einsel. This couple met in Manhattan back in the 40s and each worked for a major TV network (different ones) fell in love and ended up working together for the rest of their lives. Especially touching is the tradition they had of making elaborate valentines for each other.
I love their artwork. Reminds me of the Small World stuff. Fantastic art!
Kristiana Spaulding rents Airstreams that she's refurbished. God, that would be a great way to go on a camping vacation.
Update: Whoops. Looks like sheonly rents them out for film and photo shoots. Well just gotta keep looking.
Farmgirl Fare is an interesting blog by a woman who packed it up and became a "farmer". Interesting stories and great photos of her daily farm lifestyle. Oooh, and lots of cool foodie stuff too. Check out her kitchen garden.
Cool. A site where you can get free deck plans. Hmmmm. While typing that I am realizing what a wierd word "deck" is. Deck, deck, deck, deck, deck, deck. Wierd.
A collection of blogs organzied by category. Like all directories you will have to see if the taste of the contributors matches your own. Still a great human filter for identifying great blogs to check out.
Deli Containers - Compostable Food Containers - Corn Containers - Hinged Clamshells
These are awesome. Food containers made from corn that perform similar to plastic. But these biodegrade in 45 to 60 days instead of several hundred years. Too cool.
Alas. Budget Living Magazine is dead. I really enjoyed it while it was around. Apparently the December 2005 issue was the last one. This explains why I couldn't find it in any stores. It's a shame as this was one really great magazine and it seemed to really tap into the same zeitgeist that Make Magazine and ReadyMade magazine are so sucessfully exploiting. Anyway, Shelterrific is the blog of the former editors of that magazine. Check it out. It's not the magazine but it's better than nothing.
SEWDORKY Fine Felted Donut Shop & School of Dentistry
This site makes faux donuts of the highest quality and has recently branched out into faux plush teeth as well. Plus you gotta love any business called Sewdorky.

Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Food
Wow. A real butcher shop! I am heading out to this place for lunch today. Apparently you can get a whole suckling pig here. I need to seriously consider that for my next luau. Awesome.
I found this great link on Whipup.netabout the Japanese braiding craft called kumihimo. Looks like a lot of fun. I used to make friendship bracelets as a kid and got to where I could make them on autopilot while watching TV. I'll be trying this.
There were some great additional links to resources in the comments like this one to a squidoo lense and another to a store that sells supplies.
Somewhere on the masthead: In Which We Learn the Three R's...
Once again the Magazine Man is having one of his dilemmas. This one is specific to his being an author though. Go and read and help him figure out what to do. Never a dull day.
